Current US Population: 337.8M (+0.5% vs last year)
Dec 2024
Recent estimates indicate that net international migration has become the primary driver of U.S. population growth, surpassing natural increase (births minus deaths). Specifically, since 2021, net international migration has accounted for the majority of the nation's growth—a shift from the previous two decades when natural increase was the main factor. In summary, while immigration contributed to about one-third of the U.S. population growth from 1990 to 2015, its role has become even more pronounced in recent years, becoming the leading factor in population increase since 2021.

In the United States, population data is compiled by the U.S. Census Bureau, a division of the Department of Commerce.
